Kitchen Nightmares- The Flooding

Well this past month we have had a little bit of Kitchen Nightmares ourselves. It all started a few Fridays ago when we came home from Walmart and were putting the groceries away. I noticed a mini lake forming under neither our refrigerator. Now I have never noticed water under our fridge before, so this was a surprise. After cleaning it up we noticed water was also coming up from our pergo floors as we walked and the floor was beginning to buckle. We discovered it was the line from the wall to the fridge for the water.
You can see a little buckling in this picture, but you can see the nice floor we had before. Oh how I miss the pergo floor. We got a great reference from our neighbors for someone to rip out the floor and dry under it. When he came he said it was most likely slowly dripping into our floor for quite some time.
After ripping up our pergo, we noticed this lovely gem of a floor still existed underneath our current floor. Oh boy laminate peel and stick you still are there. Talk about disgusting floor, we have this currently in the bathroom, which is not bad. But it looks horrible in the kitchen.

So Wednesday we had this little set up done, under the tent is a fan and dehumidifier. So for 4 day it sounded like a runway in the kitchen and was hotter than heck. I had to run the air-conditioned just to keep the downstairs under 80 degrees. Now, thankfully, the fans are gone and we are living with some holes in the walls and a lovely concrete and tile floor. It is not longer 80 degrees in there and silence is golden! I will admit Luciano and X-Treme Cleaning did an awesome job! I highly recommend him if ever you find your self in some kind of flooding situation or you need carpet cleaned. Stay tune to more kitchen updates for when we get our drywall repaired and our new floor from Luna. Coming soon a new fridge too.

Chicago Sports Player Spotting Tonight

Pauly!
We had an after work outing tonight and were going to go to Viper Alley, but unfortunately they were closed. So we went to the Cubby Bear North and I am super glade we did. It just so happened that Paul Konerko of the Chicago White Sox was there signing autographs for charity. No one in my group paid the $79 for an autograph but lots of us took pictures. We had a great view of the stage he was on from our table. Here is a good shot my co worker Robin took. We had a great time chatting out side of work, having a few appetizers, and some drinks. We rarely ever seem to get a chance to go out and catch up on life outside of work, but it was truly nice to do so tonight.

Have you been surprised to see someone famous while you were out lately?

Blog Everyday in May Challenge: Days 1-5

So I decided to go ahead and link up with Story of My Life the Blog and participate in the blog every day in May the challenge.

Here are days 1-5 that I already missed:

Day 1: The story of your life in 250 words or less (or one paragraph... no one will be counting your words... probably)

I was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived there until I was 4. Then moved to Memphis, TN, then Edison, NJ, then back to Memphis, TN. I lived in Memphis (Germantown and Cordova really) from 2nd grade until Sophomore year of college. I attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL, where I met my husband Justin through mutual friends.
Our first picture at Landmark Lanes in Peoria.
We got married in 2005 and we now live in a suburb of Chicago, not too far from the Wisconsin border. He does technical support and I am a project manager. We have two cats named Guido (5) and Tobi (9) and we love sports, hanging out at home, video games, and going on vacation. I love working out, running, knitting, crochet, scrapbooking, reading, blogging, and being with my family.

Day 2: Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at.

I like to think I am pretty great at doing crafts. I love scrapbooking, but not for others unless it is a book about a tropical vacation. All of my scrapbooks around Mexico are 50 plus pages long. Sometimes my friend and I will go scrapbook at Archivers in the mall or at each others houses.  I also like to paint and make things that come in a kit, like these cool foam houses we have for different holidays.

Day 3: Things that make you uncomfortable

Lets see this one is not too hard. Usually large crowds make me pretty uncomfortable because I am so short. I always feel like 7 years old if I am stuck in a large crowd or a crowded elevator. Also if I have a plan for something and it does not go as scheduled I can feel pretty uncomfortable about what is going on.

Day 4: Favorite Quote and Why You Love It

"We'll be friends forever,
won't we, Pooh?" asked Piglet.

"Even longer," Pooh answered.- Winnie the Pooh

I have a few friends I don't get to see as often as I like, but this quote reminds me that we will still be friends forever, if not longer. I especially think of this when I think of my best friend Lauren, we have already been friends forever, so what is forever more!

Day 5:  Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends.

Alright I think for this one I will just list a few of some of the blogs I love reading, I have so many I truly enjoy:

My old friend, who is a mommy, teacher, and baker- Sarah @ Moske Monkey Business

A girl whose running amazes me and who is an awesome new mommy- Caroline @ Simply Smithwick

A hip Tampa Runner Girl- Meghan @ Little Girl in The Big World

Another runner and Tampa girl- Tori @ In Love and Peanut Butter

Weekend Wrap Up and Pictures!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! This weekend was a pretty laid back one, which is nice because next weekend will be busy and fun!

Friday we went to Pyramid Pizza with Justin's co workers after work. My day was super busy so I had to leave directly from the house. It took me about an 1 1/2 to get there, which was not too bad I guess. We talked, ate food, and watched the Blackhawks win.

Saturday we decided to be productive and clean the garage. We purged, donated, and swept up the floor. For dinner we went to Red Robin, which was nice as we had not been in awhile. I had Ensenada Chicken and Fruit Salad and Justin had a Double Cheeseburger. We got the chips and dips to split for an app. Yum!

Afterwards it was grocery shopping time then home. Justin started playing Bioshock Infinite. So far it is pretty cool and the graphics are great, but I feel asleep cuddling with Tobi on the couch and missed about an hour and 1/2 of the game.

Sunday Justin worked and I went and returned some capries to Kohls and picked up a few items with my Kohl's cash.
Dress is navy and white

Also picked up some jeans and a navy/white stripe tank. Total with Kohl's cash and 20% was only $19. Afterwards I enjoyed the wonderful weather and read some tabloid magazines on my tablet in the back yard.
For dinner we made fajitas for Cinco de Mayo and a yummy Mexican veggie side dish.
Summer is here!

All of it was extremely good! And now for some cat pictures!

What did you do this weekend??

Weekly Workout Wrap Up

This week started out good, but then we got busy and did not make it to the gym again. Still a good week all in all.

Monday April 29th- Went to Tom's spinning class and enjoyed it again this week. 5 activity points earned.

Tuesday April 30th- Ran with my friend at the Rollins Savanna. I had all sorts of troubles, breathing, side pain, and chafing. I did manage to finish 3.1 in under 40 min so that was good and I was happy with that. 5 activity points earned.

Wednesday May 1st- Walked the Savanna with Bridget today, it was so nice out I did not want to be cooped up in a gym. We had a nice walk and enjoyed the weather. Also did some squats for a monthly challenge. 4 Activity points earned.

Thursday Mary 2nd- Went to the gym to lift weights for an hour. I also did some rowing during that time. Felt good and empowered lifting :). 4 Activity points earned.

Friday May 3rd- Went out with Justin's co workers.

Saturday May 4th- Cleaned the garage for about an hour.

Sunday May 5th- Went shopping, that's about it.

My plan for this week is walk Monday, run Tuesday, Latin Heat Wednesday, and run Friday.

How did you workout this week and what are your plans for next week?
