Weekly Workout Recap

This week was a bit hectic. We had to go down to Peoria Monday because Justin's mom had surgery. So that meant no working out Mon-Wed :(. But that's ok.
Thursday: Ran outside for the first time in a very, very long time. Used the app Endomondo since my Garmin Forerunner has not arrived yet. App said 14:08 but I know it was faster. Felt good running outside.

Friday: Went to the gym to run on the treadmill and see how long I could go for. First mile was good, second mile I was like "why am I doing this", third and fourth mile were well. Then the pain on my foot started, it was just a blister but hurt like heck! By mile 5 I was like "how long is a 10K" and had to look it up. 6.2 miles, well I already did 5 what is another 1.2. So in about an hour and 1/2 I completed 6.2 miles. Can't wait to do it outside, it was a bit difficult on the treadmill but still was pretty proud.

Really did the extra .01 just took the pic to early.

Guido wants to run like he stole it.

This week I should be back to my fitness routine. Monday is spin class, going to try and run either before work or at lunch. Tuesday is Zumba, will run before, Wed is Latin Heat, will run before. Not sure about Thursday but will run Friday. What is your fitness plan this week?

Weekend Wrap Up- Joel and Sarah Visit

This weekend was one I was looking forward to for awhile. Our good friends from East Peoria, Sarah and Joel, came up to visit us for the weekend.

On Saturday Sarah and I made, what is becoming our little tradition, our trip up to Pleasant Prairie, WI to go to the Premium Outlets. This outlets are some of the best around and I love going there. We got to the outlet around 9:45 and prepared for our trip to Coach. It paid off because we both got awesome deals on a purse and wallet. Here are my finds:
I saw this wallet a few weeks ago when I went and did not get it, so glad it was still there.
This purse is like no other one I have
I also was able to snag the shoes from Old Navy I blogged about a few weeks ago. Can't wait to wear these with white capris and a navyish top.
That night we went to one of our favorite burger places in Grayslake called Bulldogs.

Sarah and Joel loved it, but who won't with all the burger choices. I had the Area 51 burger and Justin the Double D. We all enjoyed Hillbilly Fries and Garlic Fries.
Ready for our assortment of fries and burgers

The food

Weird lighting but kind of cool

Love the signs and atmosphere

Not a very big place, but crowded

Checking out the place
That night we watched Kingpin

I did not remember much of the movie from when I saw it in the 90s but it sure was kooky and funny.
We wrapped the weekend up on Sunday with pancakes, sausage, and bacon before they had to head out to beat the snow home. We had a great time and look forward to our next adventure together.

Weekly Workout Recap

Doing good with eating, not the best on working out this week. Down another pound or 2 this week and feeling good. Got to keep it up!
Monday 3/18:  We went to the Gears launch, walked over our 10,000 steps.

Tuesday 3/19: Nothing, felt crummy due to the weather.

Wednesday 3/20:  Went to the gym to run a mile and wound up running 5.21, this was my longest run yet.
Mile 5 completed in 14 minutes

Not bad since I wanted to give up after mile 2

Thursday 3/21:  Break, I went to a consignment sale with my neighbor and stood in line for 2 hours.

Friday 3/22:  Our friends came in town! Walked at the outlet mall on Sat with Sarah for 6,000 steps.
Needing advice on a GPS watch for less than $150. Have been looking at Garmins. Need this for when I start to run outside. I have a Polar FT7 so will keep that for Hearth rate. Any advice??

Adventures in Video Gaming- Gears of War

Monday was an adventure day for me and Justin. Anyone that knows us knows we love the Gears of War franchise. This Tuesday the fourth game in the Gears of War series, Judgment, was released. We had originally ordered the game online, but when we heard that the Microsoft store in Oakbrook was having a launch party and giving something away we had to go. So after work we headed to the mall to see if anyone was in line already, and they were not.

With 5 hours to kill we enjoyed dinner at Sbaro, went to Barnes and Noble, and had a Carmel Macchiato at Starbucks. Finally at 9:45 we headed to the store to stand outside for the 1 hour before it would re open. Lets just say with wind chill in the teens and snow falling it was a cold 1 hour. But guess who managed to be first in line?
This girl! A line of guys formed behind, but this gamer girl was first.

It was a pretty cool event. They had a tournament, which we entered and were bad at.

But it was fun none the less. They had pizza, which we had just had. They also had raffles and the first 50 people got this shirt:
All in all we had a great time and once the clock stuck 12 we picked up our game and headed home.
